With the arrival of baby almost upon us, things are slowly coming together. Although my house still isn't clean at all, I have hope for the near future. In fact, during my bath, I starting cleaning up my tub. I am hoping to get the second bedroom at least a little more organized in the coming weeks. Everytime I go in there, I organize just a little bit. Some things are more important than a clean house. Like spending time with Chris. I mean, we are always home together, we don't have other obligations right now, but sometimes it seems like we are both in the same room, but not in the same space. That's why lately, we have been making more of an effort to just be together. Even if we are both occupied with something, like reading or the computer, every couple of minutes we acknowledge each others presence. And sometimes, we just lay in bed and talk about the silliest things that have nothing to do with anything. Like what will happen when our cats finally die, will they become rugs or will we have them stuffed. Just nonsense like that=)
I am certainly going to miss all of the one on one time we have with each other. It doesn't seem fair that I spent so much time trying to find someone to spend the rest of my life with, that I won't be able to just be with them for much longer. Pretty soon, we will have another life entwined with ours and the something special that we have with each other, will change. I am not saying that's good or bad, I just know I will miss the time when it is just us. I am afraid that he will feel neglected when the baby comes, or that I will get so caught up that I forget that I am not just a mom, but someone's wife and best friend as well. How easy it will be to lose touch with each other. I don't want that to happen. For one thing, the whole pregnancy is his fault to begin with (that's my story and I'm sticking to it=) and another thing is that we can't put our marriage on hold to raise kids and then expect to pick up everything to be together when the kids finally leave. I don't want to be that couple who once the kids leave the house, suddenly have nothing in common with each other. *Shudder* That picture freaks me out more that anything.
I know that having kids is the next great adventure, but if there is one thing I have learned, is that there are exceptions to every rule and nobody is exactly the same. So while I look forward to raising and teaching a new baby everything I know about books and video games, I look back with longing for the times just spent with Chris. Shopping at 1 am because we forgot milk, or going to pick up some random item at all hours of the night. Or just wondering around at the mall together, wondering how places like the Hello Kitty store stay in business.
Maybe I wasn't ready to start having kids yet, but it looks like I really don't get a choice in the matter now. Somehow, this is all someone else's fault and if things fall apart, rest assured "somebody" will be getting a very strongly worded letter from me=) But for all of you young parents our there, don't forget that there is a reason you have kids and don't forget to spend and devote a little focus to that special reason who snores every night next to you=)

I am in love with this post. Wonderful. If I am ever around then I will be sure to wisk your baby away so you can have time with your husband. I know Ren is in the other room but Zac and I LOVE it when she is in bed. Then we get time just to each other. Of course we miss Ren like crazy and wish her back with us. But nothing is better than always being aquainted with your husband. I love your face and don't be afraid of breastfeeding. It totally totally rocks. I am an expert now. Sheesh 14 months and you'd hope so right! Plus I wish I hadn't stopped til she had all her teeth. Oh that poor child. Breastfeeding is such a cure all. I can't believe people waist their money on medicine and formula. (granted I know there may be some out there who have difficult situations.) I am just saying why not do something that is free and is ALWAYS best for the baby. Okay I am off my high horse. Heart you billions see you soon. By the way what are you doing this weekend I am coming down.!!
Dearest, this post was awesome. I loved it, it is a side of you I don't get to see too often. You will do just fine, and you will find balance, Neil and I were only together a year when we found out we were pregnant with Dallin, 9 months later there he was and it changes you, and it makes things different, but for the better. I love you and know you and Chris will do awesome and be the best parents ever and still definitely have the moments you need. Love ya!
