One Week

So Aubry is one week old today. I can't believe it. I feel like I haven't slept this entire week. I got my staples out today, that hurt really bad. Then we took Aubry to the doctor for a check up and she is fine. She has birth marks on her back which I hadn't noticed. We go back next week, and hopefully she has put on weight by then. She is down to 4 pounds 10 ounces and she really can't afford to lose any more!! It has me pretty worried even though everyone says that normal. If she weighed more it would seem more normal. Everything is going pretty good though. Breastfeeding was a challenge at first. But I think I am getting the hang of it. Plus, it's free. And so far I have lost about 20 pounds from last week! I know that seems like alotbut I still have a ways to go before all of the baby weight is gone. Then I can concentrate on losing more weight. I still have 5 weeks to go before I can go swimming and exercise!!

I am still so tired all of the time. But I guess that is normal too. I think next week I will pump some milk and then sleep in and have Chris feed her or something=) Well, that is the update so far, nothing too exciting planned for next week. Just another check up and Chris goes back to work=( My mom will be down to visit, so thats nice. It was just nice hanging out with the hubby and bonding as a family. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I don't have to go back to work for a long while, if I have to go back at all. I can't imagine leaving Aubry with someone else at this point. Well here are some more pictures of Aubry. Enjoy!!

Aubry Ann Godfrey

Chris cut the cord. No pictures of me getting cut open. Thank Goodness.

Tiny little thing. Hopefully, she gains some weight.

She wasn't crying. They had to do all sorts of things to hear some noise. She's good now though.

We finally made it home.

She was mad I think.

Here she is. 5 Pounds 2 Ounces and 18 Inches of pure sunshine. Already she has a personality. She likes to roll her eyes at me when she is breastfeeding=) No pictures of me, but that is because I am more swollen now, than the entire pregnancy, and I have a huge rash on my face. They mixed some morphine in with my spinal tap and I itched like crazy for about 2 days. I rubbed my face raw. It wasn't pleasant looking. Then I stressed out a cold sore, so I look like the swamp thing. But there will be more pictures once we get more settled at home.

Less than 48hrs...

The car seat and some things from work baby showers.
The bassinet that Kelly gave us. With the Grandma blankets inside

Yeah, we need to move the computer, but the desk can be a changing table.

These cute storage units Amelia helped us pick out. Full of clothes.

So I have less than 48 hours before I "give birth". Technically, I will be having surgery, but the result is the same. Soon our whole lives will be turned upside down and focused on a small person that we have never met before. Her name, in case you were wondering, is supposed to be Aubry Ann Godfrey. Krysta brought up a good point about what happens if we meet her and that name doesn't fit. I can be flexible, but I am pretty sure Aubry will fit. It had better, cause I don't have a backup name picked out. I can't even think about a different name, I draw a blank. Our house is semi clean. As clean as it is going to get. Chris is taking two weeks off to be with me and the baby, so hopefully we can get even more stuff done. After Chris goes back to work, my mom is going to stay with us for a bit, and then Chris's mom is coming down. I think it is a good flow this way. That way I won't have anyone overlapping, plus Chris can spend some quality bonding time with the baby. I am so excited that he is able to take so much time off to be with me. It will be so hard to see him go back to work. But the good news is that he gets off so stinking early that we can hang out all afternoon as a family!!

A family. That is so weird to me. I mean, we were obviously a family before the baby, but now with a baby we are a family unit, not just married. I can't imagine being responsible for another human being, not to mention their feeding machine. I am particularly nervous about breastfeeding because I want to do it exclusively really bad, that I am afraid because I want it so bad, that something will go wrong. Fortunately, I will be at the hospital for at least two days, with nice nurses and lactation specialists, that I can hopefully get the trick in before I have to leave. And if I need help, there are tons of relatives that I can call on to help me. Aunt Beth is on my speed dial for back-up, not to mention my mom and sisters.

I promised to post some pictures of the babies room so here they are. Not as coordinated as Lara's but, I have my own style. You can see the cute blankets that my mom and mom in law made for her. We have a ton of blankets. Which will be a good think when we move to Idaho. It looks like we will be staying til our lease is up at the beginning of October before we move. I think we can manage to move mid September so cross your fingers. That way we beat the worst of the summer heat down here, and move before the big winters they have up there.

Well, I will hopefully get a chance to blog and post pictures in the hospital as I will be there for awhile. We will let everyone know how it is going Thursday afternoon after she is born.

One Week....

Just an update. I have pretty much let everyone know already that at this point in the pregnancy, Aubry has decided that she would rather be sitting up instead of facing down like she is supposed to. So, because she is breech, the doctor has scheduled me for a C-Section a week from today. Kinda lame. I was actually looking forward to the surprise of the baby and going natural. I was disappointed, but the doctor said that she doesn’t have any room to move around and that she won’t flip. But she is about 6 ½ pounds at this point, which is a good weight. So, May 20th, I will go in and get a spinal tap and get cut open, then be on my way. From what everyone is telling me, a planned C-Section is way easier to recover from than an emergency C-Section that happens after hours of labor. We will see I guess. I’ll let everyone know how it goes. I am not sure what will happen after the C-Section or how I will be feeling. I didn’t read or study up on the C-Section because I honestly didn’t think I would be getting one. I mean, after all of the tests and knowing that she was fine, I didn’t even consider that she wouldn’t be positioned correctly. Her head is right under my ribs, which is probably why I am out of breath all of the time.

Other than the bad positioning of the baby, things are looking well. I need to clean my kitchen like there’s no tomorrow still, but our house is basically baby ready. I am even packed for the hospital. Me and Chris talked about it, and though we are sad that we don’t get to experience the rush of a regular delivery, we are glad to know when she is coming. I like to be prepared for stuff and it helps to know. We washed all of her clothes and we washed the bedding in her bassinet. Now we just need to keep the kittens from playing in her room. They like to play in her bed when we are in her room, so we have been trying to keep them from getting their fur everywhere. We finally found our camera (under the bed) and so now I can take some pictures and post them of her room. It’s not fancy at all, but I really like it.

I have one week left to act like a kid myself, then I have to grow up=)
